The cormorants were very active fishing on the Tawe yesterday - and starting to look very colourful as breeding plumage develops!

On this mighty warm evening a fine crowd of around 30 curious guests came to see what #FriendsofHafodMorfaCopperworks had to show them in east #Swansea near the mighty River #Tawe. In my group, from start to finish:

Shot taken from remains of a copper smelting works, largely cleared in the 60’s looking over grass towards an old stone quay by the river which curves broad and blue into the distance. There’s a rowing eight in the middle of the river, leafy trees either side and a blue sky.

Morning folks 😎☕️
An 8 on the sunny River #Tawe yesterday.
Pic taken from what was once the heart of #Swansea’s world-leading copper industry. Now all green with cowslips. 💚

A male cormorant in splendid breeding plumage with white feathering over his head and neck and a punk style blacj crest at the back of the head. Pictured in full sun there’s an iridescent green sheen on his black neck and chest.

Is it #Cormorant Friday? It is now!
Couldn’t resist this male in breeding plumage in the sunshine yesterday by the #Tawe barrage. And another busy fishing 💙

View down the River Tawe with broken cloud blue sky reflected in calm waters, a semi-circle of large stones across the river creating a low weir effect and triple-frosted bare trees lining both banks and reflected in the river.

It’s a grey windy #Swansea Saturday so here’s the River #Tawe yesterday up the valley running clear and healthy before the sewage is pumped into it. Have a good day 😊👋
