This is what it looks like to make intentional space for self reflection (as a player, a student, and a man) with a HS hoops program.

Young men learn best from each other, not long lectures from me their coach.
Yesterday, two seniors led a short #TeamsOfMen session with our FROSH pre practice. No speech. No slideshow. Just peer modeling: “I should… I could… I WILL.”
That message hits different when it comes from the locker room.
My convo w/JP Nerbun & Betsy Broderick on the TOC Coaching Culture Podcast — about what happens when you stop teaching boys to “tough it out” & start teaching them to feel it through.
Its why I built #TeamsOfMen.
This is what reimagining manhood looks like.

But what about the reframing on the right?
If your players mirror your definition of manhood as much as your practice habits…what are they really learning from you?

(1/3) Two different coaches—20+ year vets who’ve been leading male athletes their whole careers—called me after my latest #TeamsOfMen blog. Both said the same thing:
“I’ve always believed I was connected to my guys… but I just realized I’ve NEVER had a conversation about porn with a player.”
If they DON'T see it, can you really claim "Details Matter" in your program?
If they DON'T call it out and say 'this is BS we don't cosign', can you really pub your CULTURE?
This is #TeamsOfMen.
Framing current events to push coaches to be better.

Yes, it takes time and it takes structure.
But it’s not out of reach — and it’s exactly why I built
#TeamsOfMen as a license-based system.
I’ve done this for 14+ years. Now I do it with you.

(1/3) This was my desk yesterday.
Not during a game. Not prepping an opponent. Not watching film.
Just building the realest system I run all year.
The #TeamsOfMen calendar for our entire boys basketball program character development.
(1) #MentalHealthMonth #TeamsOfMen Session Snapshot
40 high school aged male basketball players
We started with water bottles.
Not stats. Not film. Not another hype speech.
Water bottles.
Our guys rewrote violence based play calls and verified interrupting language to use with one another.
20 minutes. No adult scripts. Just ownership.
Any coach can make space for this.
Want help starting? We’re here.
#TeamsOfMen #AthleteLeadership
No stage. No mic. Just bleachers.
We asked:
“How many words do you say in a day?”
“What sticks?”
The answer? Way more than we think.
And way more than we’ve been taught to take seriously.
How do you handle language culture on your team?

Started with this:
What we say to each other—and ourselves—builds the team we become.
20 minutes with my boys basketball players at South Salem HS.
By the end, they changed what we call a play. And how we call each other in. What would your team change?
#CoachingLife #WordsMatter #TeamsOfMen
Alexandria Love’s breakdown of ally vs. accomplice vs. savior gave me a lot to affirm—and a few places I had to pause, challenge, and translate it through the lens of coaching boys and leading #TeamsOfMen.
“Alignment isn’t the same as full agreement. But both can lead to growth.”
(2/2) with #TeamsOfMen, I'm trying to help coaches and their young men find these same "GLIMMERS" of new decision action moments for the humanity, for their character, for their decision making paradigms.
We need to make those celebrations the norm as well!!!
"What does it mean to say 'I Got U Bro'?" 💬
How do we show up for our teammates when they need us most?
During a game: Encouragement or stepping up in tough moments.
Off the court: Checking in, listening, and being there when it matters.
It’s not just words—it’s action. #TeamsOfMen
As a coach, I now see how harmful that dynamic was. A true team culture welcomes everyone—from the best player to the last on the bench.

Fortunate to have had the time & space with #StewartKraintz on his pod.
Excited for everyone to hear our convo on my #teamsofmen coaching framework and why I believe locker rooms must be a space we utilize to have conversations on seeing and escaping #themanbox.
