(第八十二番札所 根香寺) Negoroji Temple, founded by Kobo Daishi, is located deep in the mountains of Mt. Aomine. Its remote, steep location was chosen to support ascetic Buddhist practices, which became important during the Heian Period for gaining spiritual power. This tradition, known as Sangaku Buddhism, values isolation from towns and people. Visitors are encouraged to reflect quietly and appreciate the natural sounds of the forest.
