The Storm This bitter cold wind howls from who knows where. Through phone wires and haughty chimney pots. Leaves roll, without care, across the main square gusts bustle people and in the harbour, yachts try their upmost to escape their safety. Waves crash violently against fragile coasts, furious white spume whipped up hastily like irrepressible, iridescent ghosts. Yet sweet pastries and spiced warm wines await, around roaring log fires, blankets on knees. Listen as roof tiles rattle, we defy our fate. Backs to bracing wind, await a calm breeze. This raging fury leaves debris in its wake, some strewn, felled and toppled, some managed to stay. It will eventually end, make no mistake, then we repair our lives in the cold light of day. @BardPharts 5 February 2026
