From Wikipedia: Goldie Boathouse is the fitness and administrative base of Cambridge University Boat Club, located on the River Cam in Cambridge, England. It was originally the University boathouse and was named after CUBC's President J. H. D. Goldie, who also gave his name to the University's second crew.

This is one of the Cambridge boathouse series, dated 1996 (the Goldie). All of these early ones were painted sitting on the river bank (i.e. not from photographs). Later I took photos to help with finishing them. #Cambridge #rowing #theCam

Used to be one of my favourite areas to paint. Here's an old watercolour which includes the lock keeper doing a bit of gardening. This sold at a gallery which was in a barge boat moored nearby years ago (the Gallery on the Cam)
