Fun fact about this back piece of Nyssa's? Zevran did that for her. After the blight and after they fucked off to Antiva together she sat down and gave him free reign to tattoo her back.
The rest of her tattoos? Dalish honors for becoming a Warden and surviving.

Thinking about my DAI era oneshot I wrote of Nyssa & Zev coming to Skyhold and Nyssa immediately taking over the tavern and turning it into a party cause her niece is stressed and she personally knows how hard it is to hold the weight of Thedas on her shoulders.

All was fine at the gate and she almost went back out of desperation a few times before she got to Fort Drakkon. It all turned out though! In the post-battle chaos they found each other and slipped off for a bit before people came looking for the newly crowned ‘Hero of Ferelden’.

Nyssa and Zevran absolutely learned to fight back to back after going down to the deep roads the first time. After that they were pretty much glued at the hip in battle. Which made Nyssa’s choice to not take him with her when faced the archdemon even more painful.
