Bernadette Cooper-Singer, songwriter, musician/multi-instrumentalist (drummer, percussionist, bassist, keyboardist/pianist), producer, and founder of R&B groups Madame X, Next Issue, and the '80s all-girl funk band Klymaxx. Apart from Klymaxx, Cooper has produced for Salt 'N' Pepa, Cheryl Lynn, Shalamar, and several others, a rarity for a woman in the music industry, particularly in the '80s and '90s.
