A comic where three dragons in the foreground are discussing two others, Kelan (the prince) and Octane (the focus of this comic). The conversation is as follows: Dragon 1: Look, prince Kelan is out! Dragon 2: Who's that with him? Dragon 3: Oh that's one of his new Knights, Octane (The next panel shows a closeup of Octane) Dragon 2: No wonder Kelan chose him, he looks so scary... Look at those scars! Dragon 3: he is, he is scary!

The first panel shows octane flying fast over jagged rocky plains, causing a sandstorm in his wake. Dragon 1: I heard he used to be an outlaw... from the badlands Dragon 2 & 3: gasp The next panel shows a more heraldic depiction of Octane on a wanted poster, which reads "wanted : "the shadow" 10.000 Dragon 1, continued: He was known as The Shadow, no one even knew his name. Seeing him was considered a bad omen

The focus is now on all three dragons again, who are looking towards the other two and holding their heads low, blushing lightly. Dragon 3: So cool... Dragon 1: So tall! Dragon 2: So intimidating, I wonder if the prince is scared of him too? The next panel finally focuses on Kelan, who is decidedly not scared. Kelan: Octane remember we are going shopping for mechanical parts today Octane: yes my prince Kelan: and we need to get 30 thousand bucks worth in rare screws Octane: no my prince

The third dragon now looks at them, smiling happily. His eyes are a very striking electric blue, with white irises. He says "yeah?" The next panel is a zoom in of his eyes. The lines are drawn in red, and there is a faint four pointed star in between them, also drawn in red. The stare is intense enough to pierce.

Arc and Octane are staring back wide-eyed. Octane: ... Aight I see what you mean

A tumblr ask that reads: How do the canards work on Lexios and Octane? It looks like lexios has little slots (idk how to describe them) where the canard would sit flush in flight, but they also are clearly twisty-mobile The answer reads: Their canards are very mobile!! And they do have shallow slots on the sides, and you're correct in that they're used for flight, but especially supersonic flight where there would be little to no path adjustment. When they're flying slower they can rotate up and down to aid with changing direction, and they can even use them for braking when coming in for landing if necessary by using them to create extra drag. When they're not flying they can also use them to express themselves, using them like an animal would their ears! There's an image at the bottom showing a dragon with canards slightly angled forward to show happiness, and angled backwards to show mild annoyance.

The answer continues: In flight the neck is straightened out and the canards lay horizontal parallel to it, but when they're resting with the neck arched they can have them in any position. Having the canards relaxed (pointed down slightly) is seen as being chill, and having them tensed to be horizontal to the ground or "pulled back" is very much an annoyed expression. There's an image of a dragon with canards slotted in place, and then pulled forward into a rattle. The answer continues: Conversely, sometimes they can have the canards slotted in as a more neutral pose, and they can show them off or even rattle them to show that they're pissed off. The rattle is only a few sways for show, they cannot do it continuously. For Lexios, since she's so big and usually towers over everyone, she usually has them slotted in, which would be the dragon equivalent of standing at attention.

Two dragons are talking in the first panel, a lighter bigger one is saying "you're meeting the prince now, soldier. I want you on your best behavior" The darker one is poised as in military stance, and responds "yes ma'am" In the second panel, the darker dragon is now thinking to himself very smugly "I'm so cool, I bet the prince is going to be soooo impressed with me for real". There's a thought bubble where you can see him surrounded by other dragons and he's saying 'ladies (and prince) please, there's enough of me to go around' while the other dragons are saying 'omg octane you're so sleek & handsome & rugged & cool & ex-outlaw'

The next panel shows a hangar with a few other dragons. The white dragon from before, Lexios, is now looking away towards a dragon that is approaching. She's saying 'here he comes, get ready....' In the second panel the prince, Kelan, has bounded up to Octane and is now pretty much screaming at him from excitement "HIII OMG HIII I'M KELAN!! Lexios has told me so much about you-"

Kelan has now started rapidly circling around Octane and bombarding him with aerospace questions. The text reads: you're so - omg your intakes are so wide - I could have sworn I had a velocimeter here - and your back vents are so interestingly placed - whoa neat bifurcated tailfins - what's your tops - what's your top speed? top stall speed? can you even go into stall?

People seemed to really like Kelan so I am sharing these doodles as well even if they aren't finished. I wanted him to be really expressive so
