#ThingThursday this is my letter opener, which I actually use at work. Pen is for scale.
list of music written in miniscule handwriting. literally need a magnifying glass to read this shit, it's so tiny. I'm sorry but I cannot provide accurate alt-text
list of songs(?) on a Post-It note. I see the first one says "The Beths" and later there's Arcade Fire and Blue October, Pearl Jam, the 1975, Yungblood, Judah & the Lion.
I never post for #ThingThursday because I have too many things and can't decide which if any to post. but here's two lists of music that I found in my husband's old wallet which mysteriously ended up in my office. look how tiny and cute his handwriting is!
Front cover of the Harlequin Intrigue book from Nicole Helm, Stone Cold Texas Ranger. In the artwork a brunette woman in a white t-shirt and blue jeans aims a gun in front of her as the titular cowboy holds and guides her from behind all confident like.
It's the back cover of the book that says: A TEXAS RANGER PUTS IT ALL ON THE LINE FOR A WOMAN WHO HAS EVERYTHING TO LOSE. Texas Ranger Vaughn Cooper doesn't need or appreciate the "help" of some frivolous civilian on his case. Yet even this seasoned lawman can't argue that Natalie Torres is on her game. She might even unlock the answers he needs to crack this kidnapping...if the bad guys don't erase Natalie first. With her home burned to the ground, Natalie has no choice but to hide out with Vaughn in a remote cabin. Spending time with the stone-cold officer should keep her mind strictly on the case. But there's an unseen fire burning deep within Vaughn, and it's making Natalie wonder just where the true danger might lie.
I always forget about #ThingThursday and when I ran across this literary GEM again in my collection I knew I wanted to share!
A shopping bag that says "there is only one Honest Ed's on the whole world! Aren't you glad it's here in Toronto?"
The other side of the bag reading honest ed's world famous bargain shopping centre
For #ThingThursday, a bag from the legendary Honest Ed's department store.
The Real Yellow Pages ORIGINAL SEARCH ENGINE Twin Cities West Metro: Including Minneapolis April 2025
It's not much of a #ThingThursday, but check out these Yellow Pages i found at the grocery store!
I'd be curious if the listings have QR codes.
Today in #ThingThursday, a Morse code quilt runner that says “Fuck Ice.”
A roll of some sort of numbered tags that have raised numbers 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 on them. They are all attached together but it looks like you could break them apart. On the right side you can see that there are two sets of spikes on the side so they can be pressed/ hammered into something or bent around something. They are slightly Rusty
The same tags, basically the same photo, but they are shinier on the back and now you can see that there are a total of four spikes on the back of numbers 11 through 15.
For #ThingThursday, here's an example of a thing I have, and have no idea what it really is! I picked them up for a few cents years ago because I often incorporate 3D elements and numbers in my collage work, but I don't know what their actual purpose is. Numbering, clearly, but what specifically?
An aqua-and-white toothbrush. The bristles are in ten clusters, and look a little like teeth. Silver letters on the handle read “Guru Nanda” (the manufacturer or brand name?) and “Butter on gums.”
An extra-soft “velvet” bristle toothbrush my dentist gave me. I think I like it a lot. #ThingThursday
blue ceramic mug with nasa logo on front
i’m doing a mugshot for #ThingThursday today. my mom is friends with the ppl who make all the mugs for the national parks and some other things and we get imperfect pottery as gifts (a lot)
here is my slightly offset nasa mug. i’m also wearing my nasa shirt
A pair of scissors with round-ended metal blades, whose handles are plastic and colored and shaped like a red ladybug. They look a little, but not too much, worn down. The blades say "Sassafras Enterprises, Inc." and "Child" and "PAI" are written on the handle. Not visible here, the other side of the blades says "Stainless steel - Japan."
#ThingThursday: I still have the first scissors I ever owned as a kid—probably because I got them quite young and was only allowed to use them with supervision.
You can probably date them a bit since they are metal scissors 'for kids', and were made to last.
A pair of earrings, each with an oval painting, suspended by a chain from a pear and metal stud. The images, one red and one blue-green, depict Surrealist landscapes with strange objects in a desolate, moon-like setting.

Needle-nose pliers and scissor-style tweezers. Both were cheap but they've never let me down.

My two favorite tools in the whole wide world. I've had them for almost 20 yrs and I would be a mess if I ever lost them.
A photo of a miniature cake from one of those make it mini kits. It is. Round and flat, and it has been coated in fake pink, shredded coconut flakes. There is a plastic pair of ears sticking out of the top and other little black ovals for eyes, and a black nose and mouth. It's not the greatest example of this cake, but I still like how it turned out.
It's my birthday very soon! If you'd like to send a few bucks my way for food and #ThingThursday fodder on my 100mi Garage Sale adventure, I'd be grateful!
I haven't gone in years, and I'm mostly homebound, so this is a Big Deal for me.

Today's #ThingThursday is one of my favourite archive finds - its a shame its just a photocopy! This is a 'last-ditcher's' pass to get onto the last train or other transport out of Rangoon. These were issued to the 600 or so who responsible for the demolitions of vital infrastructure in February.
ope! this is totally my thing today.

A photo of various pieces of the stones named above. There is a pink and yellowish piece of novakulite from Arkansas on the left, a few lake Superior agates with intact skin that you can't really see into, a piece of smoky quartz, a couple pieces of chert, and some pieces of Jasper. Around two dozen stones and all with a penny for scale, they are all larger than a penny, but a couple of them, not by much.
My fingers holding up a really beautiful piece of Jasper that shows stripes of yellow, green, orange, blue, black, white in some places, and red. It almost looks like the Aurora over a town at night
For #ThingThursday, I've been pulling together rocks from my collection that I want to tumble or cut/face grind before tumbling. These are all quartz, quartzite, agate, novaculite, or jasper, including my favorite piece of jasper I've found, so far.
A coaster from the Picasso museum with an eye on it
This is the only surviving coaster that my mom got at the Picasso museum.
And it stares at you.

The ancient amphora in the Met reminded me of this: a perfume vial, mother-of-pearl and (?) brass, about 2 in. long.
I often wondered what era it might be - it's an item from the mother-or-grandmother hoard - and found lot of them for sale on line, designated as Victorian. 📷me #ThingThursday

It's #ThingThursday! This week this is my Kodak Retina II Type 142-made between 1937-39 in Stuttgart-I bought this just before I went on school trips to the FWW battlefields, Auschwitz and Munich. Some really haunting photos, like the ones at Hooge Crater Museum, and the gate outside Auschwitz I.
A lighter shaped like a frog sitting up with his mouth open and belching fire. His gaze always on the beautiful flame.
Been a while, but here's a #thingthursday for ya! My favorite lighter ever. Mom got it for me shortly after I was out of high school. I love my little metal froggy. He likes to start fires, just like me.
Do you have a favorite lighter? I'd love to see it if you do!
