2025 has been kind to me. I think I'll remember this as a good year. I'm leaving the year as myself, but other pieces of myself tug at my sleeves to get me to turn around & look, unspooling love & carnivorous fish. I think I feel apprehensive for 2026. Unpick. Tomorrow is not promised. #thiswas2025

#thiswas2025 Women's body horror. Jennifer's Body. 2009, thought 'must see that', watched it 16 yrs later (2nd only to gap between intent & watching 1992 film Chaplin). Also: Teeth (2007), The Ugly Stepsister (2025). Don't know why I didn't see JB before, but this was the right year for me to do so.

#thiswas2025 Good year for film vampires. Nosferatu, Sinners, The Vourdalak (not 2025 but new to me). Nosferatu has supplanted Aliens as my comfort film. Sinners—some scenes I felt I'd waited all my life for this film & I'm still listening to the songs. The Vourdalak was simply beautiful. #FilmSky

An uncharacteristically theatre-y year started this weekend last year, when I saw Ballet Cymru perform Romeo & Juliet. Enthralled, I got tickets for the next night & dragged husband & son with me—to find the dancers had swapped their roles! Revelatory live art, set the tone for 2025.
