✒️ #OTD in #Theatre #History 12 May 1593, the playwright #ThomasKyd was arrested, imprisoned, and tortured on suspicion of making "“divers lewd and mutinous libels” about Christ and the government. Kyd testified that it was in fact #ChristopherMarlowe who was the blasphemer. [1]
