Thorsmork – the Valley of Thor – is situated in the South Highlands of Iceland between the mountain glaciers of Tindfjallajökull and the world-famous Eyjafjallajökull, with Mýrdalsjökul at the rear end of the valley. Þórsmörk is named after the Norse God of Thunder, Þór, and the real heart of it is the area between the rivers Krossá, Þröngá and Markarfljót.

Land of Ice and Fire A photo essay of the Thorsmörk region in Iceland, an area so gorgeous it takes and keeps part of your heart, forever imbedded in its beauty.

This is still one of the most epic places I have been to, and one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.

Photography. A color photo of a black horse in a dark landscape. Taken from the ground against a bright sky, the photo almost looks like a black and white shot. With its smooth coat shimmering in the light, the black Icelandic horse trots across a dark grassy landscape while its flowing mane moves in the wind. A minimalist photo with a beautiful animal.
Info: The horse is a magnificent black Icelandic horse called Skuggi. Þórsmörk is located in the southern highlands of Iceland between the mountain glaciers Tindfjallajökull and the famous Eyjafjallajökull. Þórsmörk was named after the Norse god Thor.
