So ein bisschen meckern muss ich ja, weil wir im #Hexapodezember Diptera schon hatten und das im gif Culicoidea sind. Aber hier meine #Tipuloidea:
* Limonia phragmitidis
* Ctenophora flaveolata
* Nephrotoma sp.
* Tipula rufina (Riesenschnake)

There’s a genus of cylindrotomid crane flies named  𝘓𝘪𝘰𝘨𝘮𝘢. Largely distributed across the Northern Hemisphere.

About 10(?) described species.

None of them named nuts.

Yet.

What an opportunity.

A crane fly with legs dangling
(This is a crane fly.)
A crane fly waving at a mosquito
(Crane flies are not mosquitoes, nor do they eat mosquitoes.)
A crane fly drinking out of a cup with a straw
(Crane flies don't bite. Most don't even eat when they reach adulthood. Some species eat nectar, though.)
A person surprised by a bumbling crane fly
(The scariest thing they can do is fly slowly and clumsily too close to your face.)
A dinosaur startled by a bumbling crane fly
(Crane flies also have been around since the Triassic.)

Somewhat randomly, yesterday turned into a sort of Cranefly day.
Cylindrotoma distinctissima, in flagrante delicto.
Epiphragma ocellare.
