It’s not a fantasy/wuxia like #WhoRulestheWorld, but it’s got a similar dynamism & world building element to it
Lead roles in high-profile acting projects followed, among them film noir #Hindsight, the highly rated historical kdrama #TreeWithDeepRoots and aerial action film #R2BReturnToBase.

TOO Easy. I love sageuks the way Xi loves Winnie the Pooh, but I LOVED #TreeWithDeepRoots - 24 eps of linguistics, phonology and orthography.

Drama Recs Challenge Day 5
Of the ~330 KDramas I've completed only TWO are pure sageuks. For #DramaRecsChallenge "there can be only one" and #TreeWithDeepRoots is UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME. An entire #kDrama built around the creation of a WRITING SYSTEM? Be Still My Beating Heart!
I absolutely LOVED #TreeWithDeepRoots, as my other posts about it show. But, I still hate the slavish fixation sageuks have on misery, pain and violent death. And the fact this one chose to go that way even when the writer(s) had carte (99%) blanche confirms the genre is not for me
9.5/10 for #KDrama #TreeWithDeepRoots The idea of an entire Drama built around the creation of Hangeul STLL blows my mind, and technical linguistic bits were pure crack. BUT, with an otherwise blank slate for the story, the obsessive need sageuks have for everyone to die was frustrating
Of the 322 #KDrama I have completed since 2013 #TreeWithDeepRoots has taken the number of pure sageuks to TWO. It will also be the last. Sageuks' sadomasochistic fixation on misery, pain & death being necessary even in a purely fictional story (bar the hangeul creation seed) like TWDR is tiresome
Into episode 19/24 in #KDrama #TreeWithDeepRoots and keener than ever to find a Korean-language picture dictionary - to confirm my conviction that the entry for "maniacal laugh" would be a photo of Jang Hyuk in full flight. 😆
