An Astronaut's Dog I sit, quietly at the windowsill, catching a small draft, fresh air filling my lungs, from the tiny crack. The door is quiet. A TV plays news coverage in a room across the hall. “The furthest from earth we've ever been!” I hear the man say. But I wish I could be with you. Space is a wild wilderness of rocks and fire and stars But Earth has beaches, oceans, and thriving green forests. I wish I could be with you The Earth's wonders Would be worth leaving behind If only I could be with you. I saw such an adorable video today that inspired this poem. Astronaut Christina Koch, having just returned from her trip around the moon, was greeted by her sweet doggy that was, well, over the moon to see her.
