I am currently on #UCUstrikesback digital strike. So no amplifying of my School, Uni or research. But still expect lots of tweets on politics, equity, climate action, Bristol, random rocks/fossils and cats!
Had to miss yesterday, but am taking @ucu #UCUstrikesback action today. I am proud of all that's been achieved at Bristol, but am in firm solidarity with colleagues across the country. We must address precarity in our sector - in all sectors - and ensure equity.

Strikers have each lost £100s. My current contract runs out in a yr. These £££ will be important. No-one on zero hrs, short &/or fixed-term contracts has done this lightly. The #UCUStrike was a chance to draw attn to the precarity happening under your, our, watch. #UCUStrikesBack

These are things you, we, can easily do now. Longer term we need: a systemic shift, rolling back marketisation; more jobs; secure work; equal pay; equally-distributed funding; a work-life balance; career progression; & recognition we're all successful #UCUStrikesBack #UCUStrikes
A) Fund more & longer-term postdocs.
B) Recognise 'ECR' is nonsense & includes many who are mid-career.
C) Change internal & learned society funding rules to incl senior 'ECRs'
D) Pressure external funders to eradicate the 5yr cut-off for 'ECR's 2/2 #UCUStrikesBack #UCUStrikes
