Well it is a bit of an oddity Definitely not MATs where role is one of director/trustee. Traditionally always has been in maintained *although they can opt out. I've never had any problems but some boards have if HT is controlling/gatekeeping but that could happen if they are not a Gov. #UKEdGovs

My advice is 'listen to hear' - and I'm the first to admit I don't always get this right as my brain races ahead of what is being said. If the board consciously tries to develop this culture - respecting the contributions of others - it can be more productive. #UKEdGovs

Not in my experience but I understand your point. Governors don't act alone so I'd expect the board to look at this in light of the school's obligations under the Equality Act & in providing a broad & balanced curriculum preparing children & YP for today's world beyond the school gate. #UKEdGovs

This is a great lesson for governance too! Every year our board has a - What should we keep? What should we do more? and What should we stop? conversation. It is unsustainable to just keep adding things in. #UKEdGovs
It's a huge challenge with budgets so stretched. In rural counties getting to cultural opportunities can be too expensive so we have to be creative. I worry about the gap between the access to cutural experiences for different groups of children. #UKEdGovs
