Question sent to "unclear dot straw dot page". "I'd like to know more Sev backstory!"
Answer:
"So, first, backstory to the backstory to the backstory:
Thereโs a hidden Bird Society with advanced technology right under our noses. They keep themselves hidden because they largely donโt trust us humans. For the sake of brevity, thatโs all the info you need here.
(This is the story for Owl-AJ and others from that universe.)"
Now, backstory to the backstory:
Bird Pirates were originally Bird People who would sneak into human society and steal knick-knacks and treasures to sell. At first it was for nothing more than thrills and perhaps some financial support. But eventually the whole Bird Pirate movement got infected with extremist anti-human sentiment. More and more Bird Pirates believed that Bird People were superior to humans, so in addition to the usual theft of human goods, some of them would intentionally destroy and sabotage human property. And now, human trafficking, and sometimes even murder.
Sevโs role in all this?
Heโs from a long line of Bird Pirates, so even as the extremism spread, his family were still largely traditionalistโฆ until they werenโt. Sev left his family due to their increasingly violent anti-human views, but ultimately he wasnโt able to leave the Pirate Life.
Joining another band of pirates, this group showed Sev up close the horrible things they do to humans.
It wasnโt until that band of pirates was attacked by a group of anti-Pirate rebels did Sev finally break out of the extremist Bird Pirate cycle, and found new friends in the Anti-Pirate Rebels, which he currently works with. (Shown in the illustration is Sev meeting what would become his best friend, Tex.)
Short 4-panel comic strip. A large parrot man is being held up at spear-point by a smaller red bird. The larger parrot-man has a cut on his eye that is bleeding down his feather-beard onto his shirt. In the second panel, the large parrot man starts breaking down, his eyes welling up with tears. He drops his raised hands. In the third panel, the bird with the weapon reacts. He's got a look of concern in his face, as if he recognized that the parrot does not want to be there, and needs help getting out. He lowers his weapon. In the fourth panel, the parrot man is on his knees, embracing the smaller red bird. He is fully broken, crying. He says, "get me out of here." The red bird looks like he's about to cry out of empathy. End comic.
Got requested on my strawpage for some Sev backstory, so, here's some words and a broken crying parrot guy.
