Photo showing a salamander on a bark-covered log. The salamander is mostly black on its back, fading to grey on the sides, with very bright yellow spots on its sides. The spots are large in size, relative to the body, roundish and irregularly placed along the flanks. A few can be seen on the front limbs and head. The light is warm, indicating a sunny day. Rare (for me, at least!) sighting of a Spotted Salamander in broad daylight. What a thrill! I tremendously enjoyed meeting her.
