A Northern red-legged frog. Its body is mostly in the water, with just its head sticking out. It is leaning against a green rock. It is in spot of light surrounded by dark shadows - I had to use 1/15 second exposure.

A green frog hidden among the reeds. You can clearly see the dorso-lateral ridge (the line that runs from its ear drum along the side of the body), which distinguishes it from a bullfrog.

Five turtles sit on a log in the middle of a pond, basking in the warm spring sun. Tree pollen sits on the surface of the water, giving it a yellow appearance. One of the turtles is a large soft-shell, and it much larger than the others.
This makes me feel things. After brumating all winter at the bottom of an urban pond, absorbing oxygen through their skin, dozens of turtles emerge and bask in the warm spring sun. Such resilience.

Saw my first Timber Rattlesnakes of the year last week!!! This is a species I don't see often in Middle Tennessee, and this is only the second time I've seen them in-situ and not on the road which was super exciting to me! They are some of the most chill snakes out there, I love them! #herps
