She embraced her vices. One of her best-known books is titled, Endangered Pleasures: In Defense of Naps, Bacon, Martinis, Profanity, and Other Indulgences. Shortly before her death, she published her 16th book, The Joy of Drinking. Holland said she wrote it to protest the rise of “broccoli, exercise and Starbucks.”
