I use/reference religion (specifically christianity) and religious imagery a bit when it comes to the volke-verse even though I myself dont believe in that. My very plain and shallow answer for why is "because it sounds cool" and my more complicated answer is "I love to torture Volke"

Volke murdered his ancient (or at least the body they were posessing) so I think not. The issue is that theyre too alike and for Volke he cant stand anyone thats like him. Perceiving his own insecurities and weaknesses through others, like a mirror he wants to break..

Volke likes to be in control of everything but I think he kinda likes being told what to do in an indirect way. If you told him directly "go do this" he'd scoff at you but if you paraphrased it in a way so it would appear like he'd be doing it of his own volition then he'd gladly do it
