The waiting area at the John A. Osborne airport in Gerald, Montserrat. The year was 2018, but the airport has the look and feel of the 1990s. This retro look and feel is due to tragic event in 1995. The Soufirère Hills volcano erupted burying the capital city of Plymouth and leaving half the island uninhabitable. About two-thirds of the island population evacuated and did not return. Hence, although the airport is still used, flights are limited and the airport architecture and decor seems frozen in time.
