I worry that my more musical posts mean nothing to a lot of you… so here’s Even As We Speak at @walesgoespop.bsky.social last Saturday with their gorgeous version of a song that even people who know nothing of Sarah Records might recognise…

Very much looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight, but WHAT a weekend - all the love to @misselizabethlove.bsky.social and the rest of the @walesgoespop.bsky.social team for an absolutely fantastic festival, so good to be back in The Gate too #WalesGoesPop #Cardiff #festival
Had a brilliant time at my first #walesgoespop this weekend!
...Plus my quiz buddies @benreez.bsky.social, @ady-staley.bsky.social, @rewbutler.bsky.social and @seglenieks.bsky.social. And a big shout out to my gig- attending brother @wcba.bsky.social. Fun times! #walesgoespop 2/2
Had the best time at @walesgoespop.bsky.social. Saw some great bands, was great to catch up with @sweepingthenation.bsky.social, @darren157.bsky.social and @wiaiwya.bsky.social, a pleasure to meet Jonathan @assistant.bandcamp.com... #walesgoespop 1/2
Closing the festival were @skepwax.bsky.social's Swansea Sound. @heavenlyamelia.bsky.social, Hue and the rest were in fine form, and this was a great way to finish the weekend #walesgoespop
I'm still not 100% sure what soft slime punk is, but I bloody loved The Slugs (who are also excellent quiz answer sheet decorators), this was so much fun! #walesgoespop
I've seen former Dolly Mixture Rachel Love live as part of Railcard, but this was my first time seeing her solo (albeit with her band, members of Telecom, plus son David), and it was glorious. Check out the recent re-issues of her albums on @slumberlandrecords.com #walesgoespop
Not only does she put on the whole shebang, but @misselizabethlove.bsky.social also puts on a blistering set with The School. Their sixties girl pop inspired sound is just infectious, wonderful stuff! #walesgoespop
There's something beautiful and special about @smoxham.bsky.social's music, like you're being let into a secret club. It was a privilege to see this live #walesgoespop
@wcba.bsky.social often jokes about how much I love Radhika, but how can you not fall under the spell of their dreamy indiepop? This was just a delight from beginning to end. Check out their debut album, out soon on @glassmodernr.bsky.social #walesgoespop
Gig number 17 of 2026, and @wcba.bsky.social and I are back at The Gate for day 3 of the @walesgoespop.bsky.social festival. Up first in the cafe were The NaNaZ - the Waspi army, grey and loud - making a noise that's a lot of fun #walesgoespop
We'd like to dedicate our #WalesGoesPop set to @wikipedia.org who have very much been Bringing Back The Humans
www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
And so to our headliners, our fourth &.final @skepwax.bsky.social band of the day, the mighty @heavenlyamelia.bsky.social and Heavenly. It's my 3rd time seeing them in a little over a month, and honestly it just doesn't get old, they are so good, each time I find something new to enjoy #walesgoespop
Montage of acts at Wales Goes Pop 2026.
Some excellent acts at #WalesGoesPop this afternoon / evening. Particular props for #LandeHekt and #Sassyhiya, which were my personal highlights.

I'm a sucker for 90s Australian indiepop, so it was very much shooting fish in a barrel, but good lord, Even As We Speak were fabulous. Joyful from start to end! #walesgoespop
I've seen our third @skepwax.bsky.social band of the day - Sassyhiya - live half a dozen times now, and it nevers fails to be anything other than a joy. So much fun, and who doesn't love Crayon Potato?! #walesgoespop
There's something magical about Lande Hekt, music that touches you, this was very special #walesgoespop
How good are The Cords? Very good, that's what! Our second @skepwax.bsky.social band of the day, and they just get better every time I see them. Love The Cords! #walesgoespop
I only really heard Lilith Ai for the first time a week ago, but I've been listening to her pretty much constantly for the last week. Her bubblegum grunge sound kicks arse live, I loved this! #walesgoespop
Next stop on our indiepop world tour was Sweden, and specifically Red Sleeping Beauty. I wasn't hugely familiar with their work, but very much enjoyed the electropop inspired set #walesgoespop
Our first @skepwax.bsky.social band of the day, and it was the bloody wonderful Tulpa. Their debut album was one of my favourites of last year, and I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing them live, so good! #walesgoespop

Love this pic from our friend Elisa (as mentioned in Disco 2020)
View through a tambourine! 🩷🪩

Next up, and our first band of the day in the theatre, were The Yellow Melodies. Bringing a Spanish twist to indiepop, this was infectious stuff, I liked it a lot #walesgoespop
First musical act of the day were @pinkopaque.co.uk with catchy fun synth pop songs about robots and Lauren Laverne. Much fun! #walesgoespop
Couple more highlights of last night’s #WalesGoesPop - very much enjoyed #TheBoojums, and the dependably brilliant #JohnMOuse in anarchic form as always. Think I’ve probably seen him more than any other live act over the years.
Anyone here today? Looking forward […]

Gig 16 of 2026 and @wcba.bsky.social and I are back at the gate for day two of the @walesgoespop.bsky.social festival. Things kicked off with a Sarah Records talk by @janeduffus.bsky.social and @uncharteredstreets.bsky.social. Fascinating and very entertaining. #walesgoespop
What can you say about John MOuse? That man is a force of nature! I haven't laughed so much in ages, loved this! #walesgoespop
I loved British Birds at the Winter Sprinter and so was eager to see them again, and they didn't disappoint. A rollicking good time was had by all! #walesgoespop
Upstairs to the theatre for @simonloverules.bsky.social (& the Old Romantics) for his blend of silly and heartfelt, this was great fun #walesgoespop
