Depressing as hell. Haven’t been in #Philly 4 a year. I dreaded walking
by closed #Wanamakers. I know this city has severely limited financial & political resources. It’s lack of vision, creativity & determination & commitment by elected officials, institutions & corporations that is heartbreaking.

Crowds flocked to the final Wanamaker Light Show of the season. No one knows when it’s coming back. Thousands crowded into the gilded Grand Court of the Wanamaker Building for what could be a last chance to meet at the eagle and behold the Wanamaker Light Show.

MACY’S Philadelphia AKA Wanamakers is closing.
Visited with Kristin and Ellis this afternoon. Very melancholy.

That said, when they get to selling fixtures and display props, I’ll be buying tall shelves and such like to jazz up my go-rodge at our new crib, you bet.

Center City Macy’s, located in iconic Wanamaker Building, will close in March The closure is the latest drama on a stretch of East Market Street that’s been the focus of a recent and fierce civic debate over the approval of a proposed arena for the Sixers.

The last major department store, formerly #Wanamakers and now #Macy's is set to close in Center City #Philadelphia directly across from City Hall. I have happy memories visiting the many new defunct department stores as a child growing up in Philadelphia.
