Despite the initial strife his arrival brings to the family, Bryce and Eleanor raise him as their own, his status as a bastard something they simply didn’t speak about. Having the luxury of being the second-born son, Cassian lived a carefree life until he witnessed the massacre of his family at the hands of Rendan Howe. With nothing left but the clothes on his back and a now useless family name, Cassian accepts Duncan’s offer to become a Grey Warden. Faced with the even bigger threat of the Blight, and still reeling from everything he’s been through, Cassian becomes withdrawn, relying heavily on his glib tongue to avoid any true closeness with his companions. Though over time, his new friends, and one elf in particular, manage to break through his broody exterior and reveal his more charming nature once again.
