In the 1987 pilot, the lever is there instead. When pulled, the student is forced to meet the principal.

After watching the lost 1987 pilot of "Wayside School", I can say that the Cartoon thankfully did better. Plus, the building is not supposed to be that low! It's supposed to be tall and like 30 stories high!

On this day 18 Years ago on June 25, 2007, Wayside first aired in the U.S. on Nickelodeon. The set of episodes were "Meet The Pets" and "Oh, Great Leader". Loosely based on the books, it gained a cult following sometime later. The original airing is likely lost.
