The civil war would eventually lead to the Emancipation proclamation in eighteen sixty three. In the thirteenth amend meant in eighteen sixty five abolishing slavery. But the fight for true equality was far from over. Though slavery officially ended, it's legacy of racism and injustice still lingers in American society. The history of slavery is not just a story of the past, it's a reminder that we must continue the fight for freedom, equality and justice for all.
