This is how the family celebrated when I retired - a wild blackberry pie. It has a lattice top and is on a sheet pan with foil to catch the bubbling juices. Best served with a bit of vanilla ice cream.
It takes quite a long time to pick a gallon of the wild trailing blackberries in the Pacific Northwest. Here is a handful going into a gallon milk jug with a cut out at the neck for placing the berries inside. These were a 3 mile hike into Weyerhaeuser logging property.
