The current government shutdown has been ongoing for multiple weeks now, resulting in TSA agents and air traffic controllers going unpaid for a month and counting. Republicans are demanding the passage of the SAVE act, a voter restriction bill which would disenfranchise millions.
More than 400 TSA agents have quit since the start of the shutdown, with many more regularly calling out of work.
Airports are reporting massive security lines and some, like Philadelphia Airport, have had to close terminals due to lack of staff.
On Saturday, Trump suddenly posted on Truth Social that he would be sending in 🧊 agents to ‘assist’ TSA. Border Czar Tom Homan immediately clarified that they would not be running security as they are not qualified or trained, but would assist with things like guarding exit doors.
On Monday, 🧊 appeared at 14 major airports around the country. Unmasked, they are mostly standing around and playing on their phones while unpaid TSA agents do the real work.
