🌏 White-throated kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis) The white-throated kingfisher, also known as the white-breasted kingfisher, is a striking bird with a bright blue back, chestnut head and belly, and a white throat and breast. It has a large red bill and is often seen perched on wires or branches near water bodies, but also in parks and gardens. It hunts by diving into water to catch fish, but also eats insects, reptiles, and amphibians. It is a common sight in Asia, from the Sinai Peninsula to the Philippines.
