Not a “pretty” book. It is dark and thought provoking. What is troubling me 2/3rds of the way through: so many citizens were seduced by the authoritarian dictator’s lies and promises. The dehumanizing of part of the productive population was effective. Not sure I will like the ending.

What I'm reading, Wicked, by Gregory Maguire. I found this book years ago at a used book store. This was the first Broadway show we took our daughter to see. And, now, we can't wait to see the movie. I think now is a good time to start this book.
