A loose bundle of three-cornered leeks spread across a worn wooden farmhouse table, their long green stems trailing and small white bell-shaped flowers still intact. The bulbs are pale and glossy with a little soil clinging to the roots. Later, the leaves will be crushed into a bright spring pesto.
