Does aether normally have a smell...? I guess Lyal's would be something like a woodsy scent with a little sweetness...since voidsent keep saying his aether is "sweet" or "warm".
But when Esteem (Fray) comes out, it probably smells like...a burning forest...

theyre not quite laurel but theyre not quite NOT laurel. theyre an amalgamation of ghosts and sentiments from ishgard that as a collective gained strength to manifest as one "person" around the job stone, and theyre enough of laurels fears and anger that they can merge with "her"
No thank you. There's a reason he keeps giving out a fake name or outright lying about who he is.
He does enjoy praise for his achievements, but wants nothing to do with the expectations and everything else that come with it.

He's good with plants! His knowledge accrued from years of being a forest guardian and being surrounded by plants means he can notice what they need if they seem to be doing poorly. Botanists' Guild loves him and are very happy to count him amongst their members.

He kinda wishes they wouldn't. He's not *repulsed*, not really, he just doesn't think that he deserves that level of reverence. Like sure, it's nice when people listen to him and respect him and have faith in his abilities, but he's just a guy. A person. Not some deity or whatever.

Anyone he has ever loved and cared for deeply, their death affects him. Every ally lost, every partner or friend. He always remembers them all, including his current husbands when they inevitably pass before him. Such is the curse of long life and a boundless heart.
I say it often - Aysel was accidentally inspired by Sailor Moon, lol. A couple months into writing their character I realized they're a lot like Usagi:

Luka TECHNICALLY has 2 siblings. Older and younger brother. Younger brother is passed so it's her and her older brother.
Their relationship has been a roller coaster, but now they're good!!
She has a couple friends she considers honorary siblings.

Lyal is generally open to new experiences and is willing to give almost anything a go at least once. He'll decide afterwards whether he liked it or not lol
But some things, it's just better to stick with what he knows if he needs reliability and assurance.
Since Cae it's 'Ca-eh', Cae'a becomes 'Ca-eh-ah'.
Rhel would be 'Rel' like short for relative.
While I can understand why, Cae is not She, Say or Kay.

Lyal has changed main jobs several times. He adapts to his situations.
Pre-ARR: Archery, short blades, open-handed combat. Also fairly proficient in multiple other weapons.
ARR: ARC (BRD)
HW: DRG, as arrows didn't work well enough against dragons. Also picked up DRK and WHM.

He had a few friends, and a bestie. After he started Warder training though he didn't see them as much anymore, and subdequently the only one he saw regularly was bestie.
Bestie died before 30 though.
Mharii's childhood best friend is Suvd! Also from the Himaa, she's recently left to explore the world like he did!
He doesn't know she travels with their mother until she hunts him down in fucking Tullyollal of all places!
Ehrii had Altun but he went and died :(

Cae'a has two older sisters and a younger sister and a younger brother.
He is closest to his oldest sister Miah, a Sharlayan gleaner specializing in medicinal plants.

He has three sisters! Dúna (older full sister), Harpa and Sæla (younger half-sisters)
They were very close as kits, spending a lot of time together, and always treated him as one of them even when it became clear he wasn't a girl.
He misses them.
Lamaty'i learns about Xaela hunter hand signals and that Mharii is actually pretty talkative even while nonverbal!
Koana finds it easier to learn about Xaela nomad culture than learning about Hhetsarro culture! There's that separation between cultures that drives his curiosity more.

Fray is a part of Lyal's psyche. It might be a bit corny to call them his "dark side", but that's basically what they are. Born from trauma, they are the part of him that harbours his darker emotions. The part that isn't heroic or righteous, that rages at his pain and holds his anger.

When communicating with his minions/mounts, Lyal rarely uses spoken words. He has a huntspeak - clicks, whistles, various sounds - that he trains them to listen to. He uses these commands to get them to attack, stay, down, retreat, run etc. and he has a call sign for each of them, too.
... tried to heal LB3 at P12 too fast (when it was barely out) because everyone fell except me and a DPS and they didn't spawn back onto the platform yet.

Long strides and light steps. He can cover a lot of ground in a relatively quick time. And despite how quietly he walks, there's a certain gravitas to it, and he carries himself in a way that makes average people think "he looks dignified" and seasoned fighters go "shit don't fuck with him"
