A coloured pencil drawing of a sigil on black paper coloured blue. The sigil appears in the form of a jellyfish striped in blue, violet, and orchid colours, with a splash of pale Deco blue across its surface. The jellyfish is swimming diagonally downward toward the viewer's left, with a few tentacles curling up over and behind it.

Here is a juvenile Chrysaora colorata, one of my favourite species of scyphomedusa, native to the Californian coast.
Itβs #worldjellyfishday ! Medusae, that are often considered jellyfish, can be hydroids, or they can be true jellyfish (Scyphozoa). Only true jellyfish have the life stage you can see in this video, the ephyra. #marineplankton π¦
It's #WorldJellyfishDay
Theyβve got no bones, no brains, and no problem floating through life.
Today we celebrate the delicate weirdness of jellyfishβand the ancient beauty of our oceans.
