Tip 1: Improve your humor writing ability by covering the punchline of a joke or the caption of a cartoon. Then write something that's funny and fits.

Tip 2: Before you start writing your novel, create a funny premise that holds the whole story together.

Tip 3: Exaggerate! If you have a large dog in your story, make him the size of a horse. If your main character is a slacker, have him be a really big slacker who never gets anything done.

Tip 4: Use opposites. Make your timid character interact with the reverse--very dangerous people. Have your nerdy character believe that all the ladies think he's hot.
