Using the UN World Urbanisation Prospects (WUP, 2018) data and the Wikipedia impact map, it is possible to get a sense of what happened to population growth rates in severely-hit coastal cities in the years after the 2004 Tsunami. Population growth slowed, then recovered after 2-3 years. Over the same period, inland cities in the affected countries experienced a temporary increase in population growth.
