Digital drawing I did of fiver from watership down. He’s a copper cream and tan colored rabbit and I drew him sifting on his haunches with mournful look on his face. There’s tattered bloody crow wings behind him (representing death and grief) a collar of vines and flowers around his neck, a thorn crown digging into his forehead with a mineral of events from the book/movie drawn out in simple forms on tiles. The world was an explosion of light + color + sound from the moment the tiny egg's shell cracked + the little hatchling within emerged into the world. He peeped, searching for a parent, for comfort, for safety. It was cold + he was wet from the egg, + there were thuds around him that his little eyes weren't yet open to find the source of. He wriggled, trying to rise on legs that were still too weak to walk, when a thud shook the earth beside him + knocked him aside. His tiny voice shrieked in fear + surprise, desperate for his mother as the thunderous booms + earth-shaking impacts rattled the ground around him, shaking his fragile bones. There was a final massive tremor + everything fell silent. He struggled to open his eyes, scrabbling + crying out in fear. The egg-fluid drying rapidly on his face cracked + gave way + his eyes snapped open + he took his first look at the world. And he found himself looking at a reflection of himself. Then his eyes focused + he realized he was looking into the eyes of another creature. A larger creature, laying motionless on the ground in front of him, eyes wide + unfocused, jaw slack, tongue lolling, neck bent at an unnatural angle. A creature every instinct in his body recognized with equal parts joy + terror. His mother. The sounds around him, voices in the distance, got louder but he couldn't hear them over his tiny heartbeat. "...mar..." The rattling of his panicked heart in his delicate ribcage echoed behind his eyes as he felt himself drawn into the clouding eyes of his mother's corpse. Everything around him faded to black. "...namar..." His vision blurs. A clawing cold worms its way up his legs + arms + he can feel the pin-prick feather buds on his spine spiking upright. "Inamar!" With a gasp, he snaps awake, the world around him fading from the grim visage of death to a cave nest lit with the calm, orange light of early morning. The beaked face of Seer Maunat leaned into his view, a concerned look in their pale eyes.

That sought-for day failed to arrive. For the rest of her life, Taigex would only really remember that autumn and the first half of the winter as a series of flashes, moments of work which stood out to her for some reason or another. Anything outside of work faded into a homogenous mire, each moment much like the rest and therefore not recorded by her mind.
I think Taigex might actually be depressed at this point.

Fun fact re: The Gift of Gloves: because the MC’s culture counts in base 9 (for their nine “fingers”), I wrote her guesstimating the number of people in a scene as “about thirty-six or forty-five” instead of “about forty or fifty”.
