#AprilWorldbuilders Q1:
My "Brothers" WIP has the heaviest world-building I've ever done. These prompts have been very helpful ❤️
The main city is Viresse (Formerly Virance, before the second revolution), so I'm going to be confusing readers by switching names based on the speaker's politics 😁

They are roughly as pleasant and helpful as a ruling class determined strictly by wealth would be.
There is a mayor, who handles maintenance and policing, mostly in the rich quarter. They are selected by the Queen from those in the city with the highest net worth.🧵

Karekhan "The Dead City" used to have an elected mayor & city council before Afredal's occupation. Its only non-elected officials were the Rotari Ghosts—members of the sacred family whose duty it was to audit the electeds in alignment with the people's will.
#AprilWorldbuilders 2
There's a council. But also this place is insane in terms of size, there are sort of councils under them controlling smaller areas like a group of suburbs. Then there are administrative officers with smaller areas still, dealing with daily tasks. There's of course the

Each megacity is run by a mayor. The mayor of Sundusk isn't malicious, but they could stand to do more about...yknow...the glitch-y shadow demons and the endless rain instead of just slapping a curfew on the city and calling it a day.
The red roses are for Lancashire, the town having formerly been in that county, and the black wolf refers to name of the town “ Wulf-heres-tun ”.The other emblems are for local industries; the agricultural market is symbolised by the gold sheaf, the flames are for the formerly important iron-smelting, the leather collar represents the tanning industry, the chain hanging from it is for the engineering industry, and supports a gold shield carrying a red lightning flash for the electrical industry and the Egyptian Ankh or Cross of Life, in green, for the antibiotic manufacturing activities.

Broad Bend is in Davenz, which is a monarchy, but the king has had the notion to start a parliament. The nobles who collect rent from the people of Broad Bend are not happy. The guildmasters, who actually functionally control the commerce through town, are delighted.

#AprilWorldbuilders D2:
I'm... actually not sure.
I think the citadel and paladin order are most in charge of the area. Not military rule or anything, but likely you have a general mayor and/or paladin commander that is in charge of the town, with their staff to help them.
I don't really know more.

Hello, #AprilWorldbuilders! We're talking about a town/city/etc. in your world this week. Tell me: what is the local government of this place? What are they like? Who are the leaders?

Where better to start than Jevine? Nestled in the delta of the Hafl River, trade has made it the richest city in southern Anura. Jevine is built on islands and reclaimed land, so it’s a mess of canals, bridges, and levees. Think New Orleans meets Venice meets Amsterdam.
#AprilWorldbuilders Gotta go with Grand Harbor. At 2.5 million people, it's the greatest and most diverse city beneath the arch. It's actually a city-state with several municipalities.
It is the headquarters of the Grand Coalition, a multinational alliance opposed to the Black Banner.

The main one in Fateweavers is Varisca, the academy/city built in a mountain range for future members of the eight clans of Old Vaalbara.
And I mean it is ‘built’ into the mountains. With whole range being hollowed out into a multilayer ‘school/college town’.
Let's call it Dawnbay City, or DC for short. It's the capital of the United Republic and it could pass for any anonymous city, at first glance.
Temples to 8 of the New Gods (both above and below) dominate one of the nicer districts. And the worst area is handily the gobsquats.

An important location in my WIP is a sort of imaginary place in Arizona not far from Apache Junction where my MC's magical mentor lives in a cave. Most of the nights my MC spends there is close by in a hollow beside a big boulder, in the company of a coyote.

#AprilWorldbuilders 1: While they speak Gouan, go to temple, and celebrate the same holidays as everyone else, Molly's starting to understand why she, Mama and Grandpa have 10 fingers, 2 legs, and don't have grey skin like Papa and all her friends: Great-Grandpapa was a scary alien, a human! (8/8)
#AprilWorldbuilders 1: Like any station, Lakshanbroa Totto has residents from all over. Still, it's undeniably a Gouan station: standard gravity and atmo, doors three strides tall. It's colder than Molly prefers, but she's not supposed to complain about that. It reminds people she's different. (7/8)
#AprilWorldbuilders 1: (Mama and Uncle Raea took over the restaurant from Grandpa years ago, but Mama still works as an accountant, helping their neighbours in the lower market. Papa works in Systems Maintenance, whatever that is. Molly, on the other hand, wants to be a veterinarian.) (6/8)
#AprilWorldbuilders 1: While the primary purpose of Lakshanbroa Totto is to facilitate intersystem trade and Oubana II's export market, most of its citizens work in unrelated support sectors: education, journalism, maintenance, or in Molly's family's case, running the family noodle shop. (5/8)
#AprilWorldbuilders 1: Like many stations the galaxy over, Lakshanbroa Totto is roughly disc-shaped, with a series of concentric rings: habitat, commerce, cargo routing, docking. (Molly never gets to go to those last two, to her disappointment. That's where you can see aliens!) (4/8)
#AprilWorldbuilders 1: (Molly learned in school that 'Lakshanbroa Totto' means 'Home in the Sky' in Old Gouan. "It has the same root as 'Tottotono'," according to her languages teacher. Molly isn't completely sure what that means. What does the sky god have to do with a station?) (3/8)
#AprilWorldbuilders 1: With a population of just over 100,000 and a dozen intersystem gates, Lakshanbroa Totto is both the first stop for ships passing through Oubana, and a minor trading hub in its own right. (2/8)
#AprilWorldbuilders 1: Molly is a six-year-old Lakshanbroan girl who lives with her family on Lakshanbroa Totto, a centuries-old space station in high orbit around the Gouan world of Oubana II. (1/8)

I think today I'll yap about the setting of my latest project, which I've barely been talking about.
Hadris is an island city. Not very big (population under 5k), its main (and arguably only) export is information, thanks to its location.

From WIP 3, the ADMIN city known as:
4D6F6F6E6265616D City. (The name is a reference). Imagine a city if every single street was Times Square NYC. There’s so much neon light that the clouds above reflect the bright colors giving the sky an orange and pink color.
And, @charliedeltawrites.bsky.social, I hope to use your questions for the next fortnight to make her a ROUNDED character —
As well as using @kiraofthewind.com's #AprilWorldBuilders to flesh out that part of the world.

I'd like to shine a spotlight on Omornisi, Elux's City of Beauty. Built over the nation's largest river, Omornisi is renowned for its unique, highly-stylized architecture and winding colorful roads that, viewed from above, are said to resemble a mosaic.
Day 1. A city/ town in your WIP.
The groups hometown is Spooky Hallow.

I'll go with the city whose name translates to 'sunset harbour'. It's an enormous city that's centered around the mouth of a big river and the natural harbour it runs into. The city proper is mostly on the north side of the river. It's generally a nice city to live in,

I have to say, 8 year old me would have hung that background picture on the wall. The colors are great (would not match my current decor, however).
At the start of Talitha Harbor there are three Great Cities.
