She’s supposed to be having dinner at the Wood household tonight. What she wants, is to agree an early finish today so that she’ll have enough time to get home, shower and change, and not be late for dinner. This is going to be a first, having dinner with Nutjob and his parents. And NutJob is doing the cooking! He prepared the Bolognese mix at lunch time and left it in the simmering oven. He says nothing. “Oh Hello,” says Conning, “We’ve not met have we? But I’ve seen you here before?” BarbieQ raises herself to her full height. At about 1 metre 75 she’s fractionally taller than both Conning and HayWire. “I’m BarbieQ,” she says superciliously, “I’m one of the receptionists here, and I live in the apartment opposite HayWire. I saw both of you this morning, and I know what you’re doing!” Not waiting for either of them to reply BarbieQ, in deliberate, calculated fashion, walks off like a strutting peacock leaving the Great Hall by the door to the Art Corridor, having effectively walked in a straight line from the one side of the hall to the other. “Ignore her HayWire, some girls get jealous easily, she doesn’t know what she’s doing.
