1: Sticking to Karnassia (co-created with @jmaxwell-author.bsky.social), and since I think I've talked about Vizrala and Freeport in previous prompt games, I think I'll spend some time in Atmoriel, the capital city of the Empire of Atmoriel, which is located in an archipelago...
#AprilWorldBuilders 1: A city/town/etc. in your book
Limah is the name of the city approximately where Gibraltar is in our timeline. Important for many reasons, but primarily for defending the entrance to what we call the Mediterranean Sea. Also famous for libraries and publishing.

Picking only one of my cities is heartbreaking but also really easy.
The Tower City is like if you took Ba Sing Se from ATLA and made it into the Tower of Babel.
Effectively 9 cities stacked on top of each other, it houses a significant percentage of the Alliances population.

Thren is the heart of the Theurgical Revolution. A city built of bronze and brass, powered by the divine spark extracted from murdered gods. But as the number of gods has dwindled, sparkwork runs out of power. Trains stall. Lights darken. Sparkwagons stand idle in the streets.

Last year was Yinzburgh, so I'll go with Reinaya this year!
Reinaya's the capital of Rinna and is kind of like if you took Kyoto and Osaka, blended them together, and added a lot of focus on accommodating the natural environment in design.
Also, city-state. It's huge.

#AprilWorldbuilders 1/Apr/26: City/town in your story?
Alkentoft is a regional capital and a major trade port, in the south-east corner of the Kingdom of Rychilla. It's populated by Rychillans (humans) and fairies, as well as elves and humans from neighbouring nations.

Staying in the barbarian world this month.
Last time this topic came up, I made up a bird-infested town in Regnum Regis' heartland called Aquilo Vorios. This time? The southern provincial Vedian town, Vanasyu, carved into the foothills of a striking mountain range.

Okay, let's go with my #TTRPG world!
An important city is Guddenfall, which is the capital of Kernheim (about "Coreholm" in english). It is also the center of the religious world, since the world religion has its main temple here.
The city's name seems peculiar for some reason...

Vehr-Hor, the City of Dragons. Capital of the dragonkin, this great city stands at the foot of one of the largest spires of the Dragonspine Mountains, on the southern edge of Karatera. Chaotic, enormous and near-lawless, this city is a monument to the dragons and all their kin.
#AprilWorldbuilders Central city in my first two books: Alabandrin. Run by a multi-species council, often joined by an envoy from the dragon nation. Ovoid amphitheater structure, raised central area with admin and school buildings. Highways extend out from center to cardinal exits of city.

Hm, what to pick? In WIP 3 there's an interesting city called Marble Grove. Long ago, a meteorite hit the planet known of Marrow, creating a massive fissure--a canyon right near a vital source of water the future residents of this country, Soreia, would dub Mercy's Backbone.

Interesting question - my story takes place in my world's culture's stone age, so while there are definite congregations, they're few, far between, lack free-standing structures, and never populous enough to qualify as even a real town.

After a schism among the dwarves living under a mountain, the rebels built the city-state of Caldera aboveground in an actual caldera. Trees and gardens thrive alongside and in the middle of every street, celebrating how different Calderans are from the kingdom they left behind.
Broad Bend is a commerce town that sits in a horseshoe bend of the river that flows through the capitol of Davenz. They get travelers by road and by river, mainly moving goods toward the coast.

I fell I have talked a lot about Ynthessen, the underground city, so let's talk about Ayveness, the capital of Esrasea.
It is a beautiful city, with world-class architecture and excellent amenities.
If you live in the wealthy section of town.🧵
#AprilWorldbuilders D1:
Welcome to Compeck. It's a trading hub of a town, though some think it might have been a fort during the Formation War. Regardless, you can find just about anything there, or find someone who can. Even the king shops there sometimes.

Before I forget because I'm addicted to Pokopia and might not be online much for the next few days, here are your #AprilWorldbuilders prompt questions!
Aside from my current addiction, I've finished my BIG projects, so I am hoping to be more online, active and ready to engage this month!
Woo, I'm necroprompting! Here's #AprilWorldbuilders with two responses I always wanted to post but never did because my characters weren't well enough developed at the time. Now that they are, I give you April 1st and 2nd, 2025. #WritingPrompts

#AprilWorldbuilders 13: Laws/etiquette regarding speech/gestures
In Essera it's considered uncivilized, and therefore rude, to speak any language but Stauba.
It's also the height of boorishness to speak to someone of higher rank unless they've spoken first or given permission. #epicfantasy
May Worldbuilders Day 1 Languages spoken in work in progress or published book?
#AprilWorldBuilders Day 1
In Sigils, Omeran is just what I call English. It keeps it feeling otherworldly.
The other languages spoken are completely fictional.
-Kharvali, by the indigenous northern frozen desert people.
-Navikulan, by enemy #1 of the empire.

I've been world building since I was 9 years old. I had my first short story published. It was a science fiction story. The characters were all kids in my 3rd grade class. there were aliens and we were in space on a ship. #AprilWorldbuilders #writingcommunity

Day 30
I've been world building as a hobby for 48 years or so. It started after I saw Star wars as a child. Now I'm trying to do it professionally.
April Worldbuilders prompt list 30, How long have you been worldbuilding?
#AprilWorldbuilders 30
I've been worldbuilding since I was in my early teens and wrote my first novel in a notebook. It was a teen mystery like The Famous Five or Kitty Drew and it's really bad 😆 But worldbuilding for my fantasy world, since 2017, if my notes are correct.
Day 30 #AprilWorldbuilders
Has it already been eleven years?! Man, time flies😮💨
It’s been ten since I first created Anura, though there were years it took a back seat in favor of other settings (the worlds of the Eleutherian League, the Silver Shrike, and superhero alt-Earth).
List of writing prompts for writers and worldbuilders to answer with a simple and small village in the background
Day 30
Probably since I've been writing...the first few years were fanfiction, and the world was mostly built for me, I just added a few things to it. I didn't create my own world until I started to write my triology back in 2015, so 10ish years I guess

AprilWorldBuilders Hosted by Kira of the Wind EXTRA DAYS Day 29: What is your current project? Day 30: How long have you been worldbuilding
The cover of The Living Sword by Pemry Janes A snarling demonic creature, with a screaming chest, stares at you. A sword is hidden by the title.
Day 30 #aprilworldbuilders: I don't even quite remember how long I've been building the world of the Living Sword, but the first sparks started at least a few years before I published the first book in 2013.
So I've been thinking of this particular world off an on for about 15 years now.

30. Worldbuilding record
Ever since I decided my first homebrew DnD game in 2017 would take place in the kingdom of Tsentrin.
God, those were the days. Days when I didn't see only the gaps in my world...
#AprilWorldbuilders 30: how long have you been worldbuilding?
I wanna say about 5 years, once I really got into draft 1 of "A Daughter's Hope" and Asloria finally started materializing before my eyes.
