A parasailor lifts off of a ridge at Yaquina Head as another rides the air currents over the ridge. They sailed back and forth in a large figure 8 path riding the updraft from the wind over the ridge.
The aforementioned parasailors at Yaquina Head. Interesting note from the individual in the foreground, immature eagles will often "check them out" while they are in the air.

Horizontal Color Photo: Atop its rocky cliff jutting into in the Pacific Ocean, The Yaquina Head Lighthouse is lit orange by the very last rays of the setting sunning. The cliffs of Yaquina Head and the sea stacks beyond are almost, but not quite, silhouettes. The birds that dot the orange sky in groups, though are silhouettes. In the foreground, gentle surf rolls in from the ocean, colored by the orange of the sky and sun.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse After Sunset Horizontal color photograph. The Yaquina Head Lighthouse stands against the post-sunset glow. In the foreground, motion blurred by the long exposure, gentle wavelets approach the coast. In the mid image, Yaquida head and the sea stacks just off its point rear out of the ocean, coming into the frame from the left. About a 1/3 of the way into the image, there is a tree, and then the keeps quarters, and then the Lighthouse standing tall, with its beacon lit. The sky beyond and above is warm orange that transitions to a more yellow orange as it you look towards the top of the frame. If you click through and look closely, you'll see shadowy streaks in the sky. Those are trails of the last birds flying to the sea stacks to rest for the night - an effect of the long shutter speed required to capture the failing light.

A Pacific Harbor Seal pauses to disapprove of me as it hunts off Cobble Beach in the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. Yaquina Head Lighthouse Under the Milky Way Vertical color photo: The Milky Towers over the Yaquina Head Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. The lighthouse's lamp is lit, and the mist cause it to have 4 distinct spikes. It is also reflecting in the waters below the cliff formation it sits on. Overhead. and just to frame right of the lighthouse, the core of the Milky Way Galaxy is visible, with the arm of the Galaxy marching up and up and up across the sky. Indulged in a last minute trip to the Oregon Coast because of a last minute opening in the weather forecast provided an opportunity to try to capture some Milky Way shots. Between the looming end of the Milky Way photo season in the Northern Hemisphere and the start of the Pacific NW's annual rainfest, astrophotography opportunities are extremely limited. Stood for a couple of hours on this bit of beach that's an unmarked city park, fighting the cold, condensation and boredom, waiting for the galactic center of the Milky Way to rotate to where I wanted it to be for this photo.
