Yaquina Head Lighthouse Under the Milky Way
Vertical color photo: The Milky Towers over the Yaquina Head Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. The lighthouse's lamp is lit, and the mist cause it to have 4 distinct spikes. It is also reflecting in the waters below the cliff formation it sits on. Overhead. and just to frame right of the lighthouse, the core of the Milky Way Galaxy is visible, with the arm of the Galaxy marching up and up and up across the sky.
Indulged in a last minute trip to the Oregon Coast because of a last minute opening in the weather forecast provided an opportunity to try to capture some Milky Way shots. Between the looming end of the Milky Way photo season in the Northern Hemisphere and the start of the Pacific NW's annual rainfest, astrophotography opportunities are extremely limited. Stood for a couple of hours on this bit of beach that's an unmarked city park, fighting the cold, condensation and boredom, waiting for the galactic center of the Milky Way to rotate to where I wanted it to be for this photo.
