A Western Gull catches and consumes a crab (ideally an invasive European Green Crab but I can't be sure) along the Yaquina Bay Estuary Trail Newport, Oregon. Color photograph: The gull is oriented left-to-right across the frame. It's leaning over and has grabbed the green crab by its right claw and is yanking it out of the mud along the waterline. The crab has its left claw up as it futilely attempts to resist its fate. The shore along the left side of the image is littered with seaweed stranded by the outgoing tide. Other tidal debris covers is scattered along the beach on the right side of the image.
