Zagreus comes forward and soon stands before Achilles. Achilles finds himself eye-level with his waist—his fingers itch, drawn to them like ocean waves that grope toward the land—he reaches out to grab them. Zagreus, who possesses a personality so large, and is furthermore a god—it is the reason why Achilles marvels, even now, at how diminutive his stature truly is. Still, the body beneath his grip is warm, firm… and most importantly, pliant. Zagreus goes to him easily when Achilles pulls him into his lap. “Now, then… I believe we need to have a talk about these,” Achilles says, prodding Zagreus at his throat. “Where did they come from?” Zagreus opens his response with a dismissive bark of laughter. “Why talk about it at all? I thought you were already perceptive enough to realize where they came from.” And then, apparently impatient, he leans in, trying to kiss Achilles. Achilles leans away, refusing him. “I am asking you nicely first,” he says patiently. “Before I have to beat it out of you.” He gives him a small peck on the lips—a promise. “I want to hear you say it… who did it?”
Zagreus worries at his lip for a moment, perhaps weighing his options, though the lust in his eyes appears to convey that any outcome would be welcome to him, and therefore it is making it difficult for him to decide. Achilles shoots him a pointed look, raising his eyebrows expectantly. “It was Pat—” The name isn’t even fully out of his mouth before Achilles presses his tongue against Zagreus’ neck, licking a wide stripe over one of the love bites before he begins sucking on it himself. Zagreus mewls deliciously in response, huffing as he treads against the ripples of pain Achilles causes him by molesting the already sore, overly sensitive spot. He starts rutting against Achilles’ thigh—like a dog, Achilles thinks to himself. He tightens the grip on his waist to stay his movements. “You know I cannot abide such a slight to my honor,” he turns to whisper into Zagreus’ ear, tracing the shape of it from shell to lobe with a caress of his nose tip. “I have so little of it left, after all.”

The buzzing of Achilles’ phone rattles from the bedside table. Zagreus can feel the man’s reluctance—a groan rumbling again his skin, and then the warmth of his breath drifting away, as Achilles groggily rolls over to reach for the thing working up a fuss for his attention. There is a pause; he jolts upright suddenly when he sees the name on the caller ID. “It’s Agamemnon,” he says, to no one in particular. He answers the phone, pinning it between his ear and shoulder. He gets out of bed and hastily slips into a pair of sweatpants that had been on the floor, returning the pleasantries coming from the other end as he steps out onto the balcony. His voice is muffled out there, and Zagreus cannot make out precisely what he is saying. He and Patroclus sit up, watching him intently from the bed. Zagreus knows this is the moment Achilles and Patroclus have been anticipating for years. Finally, everything for them is about to change.
