What if that's changed to >50% since Clement took charge?
The players that transformed our form were Cordoba & Rauiri, once they were paired it's been nothing but progress., so, for me, it has to be one of them. Mattson fisher & Kenny in that order are the other contenders

Why should I make more effort than the script writers? Not even a good song this time
Im not the target audience, this is slow vapid humourless & dull. 30 screenings a day at Norwich odeon so will have a sequels 😱 as it will take far more than the superior Hopper. Avoid 1

Bold, tense, inconsistent tale of your darkest secret revealed just days before a wedding. Drama explodes as feelings are overblown, shrink, virtues signaled & desperation hits, forgetting what truly matters. Drama abounds, will the wedding happen? Both leads are good with Pattison 🤌

Thriller as a WW2 bomb is uncovered just as a bank heist starts. Decent tension for the first 50 minutes, but disappointingly wastes the cast as it descends into foefettable stereotypical farce.
Sky Cinema Originals are improving, just slowly. Best watched at home 4

A 3rd film based on a hugely successful book with a full audience. The book is built on a solid premise but sadly the script (also by the author Hoover) is slow, uninvolving and far too predictable. The cast were unengaging & too 1 dimensional esp the grandparents

Loss of screen time is the c21st challenge to the children foisted out to rural England (via a steam train oops) so they head to the banned woods. Well adapted from the books, magical, funny (Heap at his best) & v britishly charming with a good cast. Fond trip down memory lane 6

You know, Martha Stewart went to jail for something similar. She'd like a word.

Charming untaxing Brit comedy, not about flour, but the challenges facing a historic British local in the south west. It's appallingly run by landlord clunes and under threat of repossession or worse the archetypal ne'er do well entitled rich. Predictable Sunday pm TV fodder 5

6 years after the original this sequel starts at dawn after the first film finishes, with the same visceral affects, plenty of gore and the introduction of more of Satan's servant families. Funny well paced and with Elijah Wood as Satan's lawyer. Entertaining pulp horror 7

A further Hamlet relation film, Scarlet takes her vengeant fury into land between life & death, with hajiri, a paramedic from the future, urging conciliation for earth's sake rather than perpetuating violence.
Stunningly drawn with bold yet inconsistent storytelling 5

Pixar morality tale about working together for mutual benefit is focused on frustrated conservationist Mabel being able to talk to the animals by inhabiting a robot beaver. Cute, engaging, funny if a tad predictable & little over long for my accompanied 4 yo, who enjoyed it too 6

31 #HowToMakeAKilling smooth Powell is the illegitimate outcast seeking his inheritance by foul means. Qualley is good as the love interest, Harris best as the patriarch. It's all too insipid, lame murders, lamer humour, pleasant enough, but contemptibly forgettable. a weak shadow of the original 5

Supporting Actor
A thin selection, Hawke Penn & Elordi are all ok but
Both Skarsgàrd (Sentimental Value) & Del Toro (1 battle) own their films Either would be a worthy winner but the brooding Del Toro is my marginal preference despite fewer mins over the tragic vain brilliant Skarsgard

Supporting Actress
Again a strong shortlist, although Madigan & Fanning are a bit behind.

The rest could win, Brit Mosakwu shines in Sinners. Lilleas in Sentimental Value is perfectly intense yet subdued but Taylor's break out role in 1 Battle stole the film & she should seize the prize

Best Actress
I'll be delighted if bookies face Buckley takes this, her catalogue is superb & here grief here is intense, if over focused on by the director.

This is the deepest category, all are impressive & shone & would be a worthy winner. My pick would be Reinsve but it's so close

Best Actor
I can see Di Caprio taking this but when he isn't even the 2nd best actor in his film my preference is for Jordan or Mourer, who excel and out shine the other candidates by some margin
I doubt a Brazilian will win so hopefully Sinners Jordan will rightly take the plaudits.

Best Director
Id love Trier to win but I suspect PT Anderson will, They & Coogler got excellent performances from strong castswgich complemented their style in a way which engaged.

Zhao & Safdi both over did it on emotion & intensity which fatally took me out of their films

30 #TheBride! I went in with low expectations, esp so soon after Poor Things & Frankenstein. It aims high, often misses, but this is a fun sequel with more romanticism than Wuthering, evoking Bonnie & Clyde in gangland 30s Chicago mixing loneliness identity conoassion & the escape of film. I liked 8

Excellent dance scenes, jarring script exploring community, shock, tragedy, judgement, arts & coping with life. Frustrating structure yet very thought provoking 6
