We typically cover book-to-movie projects, but how about we explore a retelling as another form of adaptation?
Here's part 1 of a 2-part series analyzing #WhatMovesTheDead by @tkingfisher.com, to be capped off with our live show interviewing her at Norwescon!

This is what we do, we talk adaptations. And every so often one comes around that absolutely kills it. #ProjectHailMary is a great example, and this comes from two fans of the novel 🚀
PSA in case they didn’t realize this: Whenever I see a bar or restaurant using AI slop I assume the food is trash and the owners are lazy RWers who couldn’t even be bothered to take a picture of their trash food.
Much appreciated, Paul! 🙏
Likewise!
We’ll be posting the full episode we recorded with T. Kingfisher at Norwescon about WHAT MOVES THE DEAD here in a few weeks! (And as audio wherever you listen to podcasts)

Thank you to everyone who came out to our live show at @norwescon.org! And for everyone who couldn’t make it, look for our episode in the coming weeks 👀
It’s wild how I used to walk around #Norwescon as an attendee putting @inktofilm.bsky.social bookmarks everywhere just hoping someone might listen, then this year I got to interview @tkingfisher.com for a live podcast recording! Add in my brilliant friends & it’s an unforgettable convention.
The Sci-Fi adaptation we needed! We’re SPOILER-FREE to start, then we get real nerdy. It’s time for #ProjectHailMary
Amaze! Amaze! Amaze!

Class is back in session, and we’re sitting in the front row! Andy Weir is our favorite science teacher, so let's take a trip with the original novel that inspired film that everyone is raving about right now, #ProjectHailMary

A modern setting filled with characters speaking in Shakespearean Language? Someone had to try it! Let's talk about Romeo + Juliet (1996), and whether this bold experiment in adaptation actually works.

Do you believe in Love at First Sight?More than that, do you believe in Soulmates?
We got into this while discussing Shakespear’s Romeo & Juliet, widely considered one of the most romantic stories ever told. But should it be? Our full episode is out now wherever you find podcasts and on YouTube!
Likewise! See you there 🙌

Is "Romeo & Juliet" really the greatest love story ever told, or is it a cautionary tale about two hormone-driven teenagers making bad decisions? Let's debate!
Plus, a special announcement about an upcoming live show @norwescon.org! (16:45)

The dance scene in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” might be its 2nd best action scene the entire season. It’s such a clever way to build character and establish power dynamics and relationships all in one go. #akotsk
Rainforest Writer’s Retreat 2026~
Went to the woods & brought 5000 words back with me! A new novel starts to take form. It’s also just a lovely time with some of the best people. Paraphrasing what @jbkish.bsky.social said about meaningful writer-life goals: “We’re doing it. This is it, right here.”
After a hell of a first season, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" proves that what made Game of Thrones great was never the dragons.

I'm so pumped to be back in Westeros!
Released at the height of GRRM's powers "The Hedge Knight" is the basis for the hit HBO show #AKnightoftheSevenKingdoms
In our return to Westeros we talk GoT as a franchise, the odd expectation around other writers taking over, & the Winds-of-Winter-delay fan hate⤵️

Just one of four FMK games @rachaelkjones.bsky.social brought to our Frankenstein episode 😅
Wuthering Heights may be the only adaptation in recent memory that outdoes Del Toro’s Frankenstein when it comes to WILDLY different reactions & reviews on my timeline.
I’ll hold my thoughts until we can get to it on @inktofilm.bsky.social
HEY come hear us debate the merits of Del Toro's Frankenstein! Had such a great time hanging out with the thoughtful and hilarious ITF crew for this one
Guillermo Del Toro's adaptation of Frankenstein has sharply divided fans of Mary Shelley's classic, but does it divide this podcast? Author @rachaelkjones.bsky.social joins the show again to help us discuss a reanimated classic!

Oops, Gladiator was actually out in 2000
Fun question! I have a few that stand out because they were some of my favorite/most memorable theater-going experiences.
The Matrix (1999)
The Fellowship of the Ring (2003)
Jurassic Park (1993)
Gladiator (2002)
Is Hamnet (2025) *too* sad? Is it “grief p*rn?” Here’s why we don’t think so, and why the movie earns the emotions it brings out in the audience. This clip is from our full episode on the movie available now wherever you listen to podcasts and on YouTube. #hamnet #jessiebuckley #chloezhao #inktofilm
