Electricity dashboard, showing 5.8% fossil fuels, 77% renewables, 16.9% other sources, 4.2% interconnectors

It's a bit gusty out there, but on the plus side, the UK is currently running on 77% renewable electricity right now. 🎉🎉💨💨

Something fierce. What Essex tells us about the fate of the plate glass universities The plate glass universities were founded on intimacy, radicalism and community. Adam Wright asks whether an obsession with growth has made those promises impossible to keep

'Essex is a cautionary tale of how a vision which began in the 1960s became turbocharged in the 2010s, only to burn out so disastrously in the 2020s. It’s a story that will feel uncomfortably familiar to anyone who knows the other universities wrestling with the same contradictions.' 1/2

The UK Covid Inquiry has laid bare the avoidable horror of the second Covid wave It is becoming ever clearer both how devastating the second wave of winter 2020/21 was, and how much of that devastation could have been avoided.

I wrote about the findings from the inquiry about the impact of the pandemic on the NHS, and the mistakes of the first year.

I hope it makes you angry - it should make us all angry.
