“You are taking tax dollars and you have to be held accountable when you take tax dollars,” he said. “It’s not a freebie anymore. Money doesn’t grow on trees.”
Says the guy who spends taxpayer money on a parking lot for a European spa and funnels it into a slush fund for cronies & donors.

a snippet of a mini-comic, at top - straight line stretches from point A to B. Immediately below, same dot at A, then becomes a curving, meandering line that winds through the page and ends at a point with rays and a question mark emanating from it. Text reads: "Nothing can do this for you - for that robs you of experience and conflates answers with learning. Rather, it's all the decisions you make along the way, the mistakes, struggles, and surprises! These pathways you create - this is learning. https://spinweaveandcut.com/fall-2025-syllabi/
In case anyone needs it for their syllabi, my statement in gen-Ai from the minicomic I made as a syllabus for class last semester. All online and printable here spinweaveandcut.com/fall-2025-sy...
Post from Amanda Gorman’s Instagram that says amandascgorman Minneapolis, Minnesota For Renee Nicole Good Killed by ICE. on January 7, 2026 by Amanda Gorman They say she is no more, That there her absence roars, Blood-blown like a rose. Iced wheels flinched & froze. Now, bare riot of candles, Dark fury of flowers, Pure howling of hymns. If for us she arose, Somewhere, in the pitched deep of our grief, Crouches our power, The howl where we begin, Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater Of the worst of what we've been. Change is only possible, & all the greater, When the labour & bitter anger of our neighbors Is moved by the love * better angels of our nature.
Amanda Gorman wrote this poem for Renee Good and that’s it for me tonight.
Found the coolest website that takes random found cassette tapes people submit and digitizes them. I’m listening to an NYC hip hop station from 1994: intertapes.net
“The best structure I’ve seen for teaching, developing, and assessing the skills that students are going to need in an AI world is problem-based learning,” educator Jay Goodman writes in his first article for Edutopia.

Zohran Mamdani (center) is sworn in as New York City mayor by New York Attorney General Letitia James (left) at the old City Hall subway station. His wife, Rama Duwaji stands beside him (right) holding the Quran on which he placed his hand while swearing his oath of office. The trio are standing on a staircase under a vaulted tile ceiling that says CITY HALL.

ADHD can mean periods of hyperfocus OR task paralysis. And while task paralysis may mean a tendency to "doomscroll on our phones or stare out windows, [it] can also look like 'procrasti-activity, doing all the other less important things on the list.'"

What the Alberta government just did should worry all Canadians.
When they legislated striking teachers back to work, they went a step further:
They used the notwithstanding clause.
This is part of a worrying trend.
@emmettmacfarlane.com helped me break it down:
“Teachers have spoken. Thousands of Albertans have spoken. Yet the same government that boasts of a "strong and free" province is now using its power to try to silence them.”

Day 1 of facilitating with @codruc.bsky.social on Shaping Algebraic Reasoning with grade 7-10 teachers. Such a great PD on patterning and linear relations. Great activities to bring back to the class and do with students. @mrjasonto.com @tdsbmath.bsky.social

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.
Can't speak highly enough of @queerasl.bsky.social. I've taken their 101-103 classes (and may well again, since I've lost a lot due to lack of practice--my fault) and found it a really wonderful, welcoming experience.
I can’t picture things in my head well. I love to draw. I think it’s why I redraw the same thing over and over.
I can’t picture numbers at all.
Blank. I wish I had a number line or a hundreds chart.
BOOK TWO: I've joined TEAM GALAXY for Galaxy 2: Galaxy Harder (not the actual title). There are so many parts of this I'm over the moon about. First non-anthology work for DC? Check. Working with @kristyq01.bsky.social @planetx.bsky.social and @ryehickman.bsky.social? MEGA CHECK.
Why are some 'science of learning' people effectively telling me their subject can't be interesting or intrinsically motivating? That seems a really odd message. The point is you have to work at it, at all ages.
I've seen 3 year olds learn about the water cycle. Lots of under estimating of children going on in some of these narratives.
Something odd about our education system is the way that children get less agency and independence the older they get, rather than more. Maybe this is linked to the apparent drop off in intrinsic motivation as young people get older as well? 🤷♀️
A marker on the sidewalk to indicate where Garrison Creek once flowed freely, and now is buried in a combined sewer flow under the ground. Bold green letters spell “GARRISON CREEK” over a shield with oak leaves and acorns in the centre, the name around them like a coin.
A closer look at the circular shield with a red oak branch, reading Garrison Creek.
The only visible remainder of the bridge that the creek once flowed under before it was buried in concrete and the ravine filled in behind my vantage point: the top of the wall on the north side. It’s covered in graffiti and doesn’t give away its historic significance.
I drove my youngest to work yesterday morning, which meant I could go for a walk to explore Bickford Park and the surrounding area again. I was tracing the path of buried Garrison Creek, the waterway that once flowed under the Harbord Bridge before it was fouled by dumping, stuck in pipes, covered.
I got outside today 😊

I really don’t know how this silly Barbapapa sippy cup that I bought at a vintage shop in Sweden circa 2006 has survived my many purges but somehow it’s still in my tea cupboard.
