More work from yesterday, the ventcontroller is now choosing what exit to send walkers to based on some scores added together, inc which is closest to the player, which has LOS and if the spot is higher on the screen than her. Next up is getting my monsters to use this system!

Basically, the dream world generation is seed based, so it builds all the data it needs during that first loading scene or during the credits. I’ll need to fix this eventually, but I think the seed isn’t being set quite right, or some other system messes with it while its running lol.

@rianthreeden.bsky.social the main parts of #superdreamdomain that we are working on improving right now are:
-map layout variety (spelunky-style procedural maps)
-interactivity (more things to do and interact with in the world)
We have an alternate ending planned too but not for next patch.

“Beating” the game takes away your items, erases your dream world, and builds you a new one. There is an autosave but there is a quirk where somehow the world it builds during the credits will be different from if you reload/refresh the game.

Yep! Currently there is a limited selection of “fixed” map layouts, but the general structure of how they are interconnected, their color palettes and sprite sheets, music, background, which items are available in your run, all procedurally generated.

Also, almost half of the items don’t actually have a use yet. Like a lot of game jam projects we came up short on time. We will get the rest working over the next couple of patches.

Classic Zelda games was deff one of our inspirations :)

Yep, currently we don’t have a lot of variety just yet in terms of map layouts, but I’m working on some maps that are themselves procedurally generated for next patch which should eliminate duplicate re-skins in the same dream world.
