Play Nice by @rachelharrison.bsky.social is hands down the best book I've read this year..the writing is sharp, great protagonist and great horror. One of the scariest books I've read. Highly recommend. Recommended if you like @gradyhendrix.bsky.social and @spookywv.bsky.social particularly #horror

Cover Jonathan Janz's THE SORROWS. A giant demon with horns protruding from each side of his head spreads his arms wide and he's screaming, displaying a mouthful of sharp teeth. He is lording over one of those circular castle things. Is that a turret? I don't know, I'm not an medieval architect. The whole thing is bathed in glorious red.
Cover for Joe R. Lansdale's THE THICKET. It's promoting the movie based on this book, and on the left is Peter Dinklage staring meanly at the camera, wearing a snazzy hat that isn't quite a top hat and a glorious goatee. On his right is the queen Juliet Lewis. There is a trail of blood coming from about the center of her forehead trailing down. She is a woman not to be reckoned with.
Cover for Rahcel Harrison's PLAY NICE. In the center of the book is a gothic-looking house, purple in color, with a demon's tale wrapping around it. There is blood dripping from the pointed arrow that is the end of the tail.
Cover for ONTM's THERE IS NO ANTI MEMETICS DIVISION. There's a black cubed structures that appears to be marble with white streaks going through it in the center. It is shooting skyward from the middle of a foggy forrest, the clouds are orange and gray.

Written with her signature wit, charm, and brilliant horrific nuance, Rachel Harrison’s Kiss Slay Replay transcends any genre of fiction to remind us all that life is bigger than the singularities we are conditioned to mentally frequent.

Just the idea of being together always and how it links to a time loop!
The Return by Rachel Harrison
#recentlyread THE RETURN by @rachelharrison.bsky.social. OKAY, I slept on this one and if you’re like me, I suggest you wake up for it ASAP. Harrison might be one of the best pure stylists working in mainstream horror that I have read. Captures very human and VERY inhuman moments w/ equal aplomb.

Alright, next on my list of insanely talented horror authors who happen to be women is @rachelharrison.bsky.social . Not only is she one of the best in her field, she is an incredibly kind human being. Someone who I feel is always looking out for others and making sure that everyone is ok.

Okay, bear with me on this one. It's the cover for A WOMAN UNBECOMING, edited by Rachel A. Brune and Carol Gyzander. It's very neony in color. If you're old enough, if you remember those shirts that changed color when you touched it, that's the vibe here. There's a woman looking straight ahead with a bright yellowish face. Her hands are wrapped around a pillow. It's like she might be watching TV or something. Above her, many blue hands are reaching out of a pink/red/orange background. It's quite colorful.
Cover for Nick Roberts' IT HAUNTS THE MIND AND OTHER STORIES. It's bathed in red/burgandy and a young woman stares at you. She appears to be not wearing a shirt (calm down, it's about from the shoulders up) and there's a wicked upsided down cross carved into her face, starting at the top of her forehead down to the tip of her nose, with the horizontal part going across the eyes.
Cover for Nick Medina's INDIAN BURIAL GROUND. It's orangish/red and what is that? Cream? Let's go with cream colored. The orange takes up most of the background, with a lizard in cream color, deocrated with all kinds of designs like circles and triangles.
Cover for Rachel Harrison's BLACK SHEEP. It's a pinkish cover, with a creepy ass black sheep with red eyes and goddamn devil horns. Goddamn evil sheep.
